Muhammad Maksum is the Sharia Advisor of PT Allianz Global Investors Asset Management Indonesia. He actively works as a Sharia Advisor in banks and insurance companies. Maksum has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta since 2003.

He also became a teacher in sharia finance trainings in various places and wrote more than twenty published articles in journals, five books, dozens of modules, and training materials. One of his articles is called The Shift of Non-Profit Contract to Business Contract in The Islamic Financial Institution Business Activities and The Relationship Model of Sharia and Financial Authorities.

Maksum has a Doctor of Sharia Economic Law, Master's degree in Sharia Economic Law and Comparative Law and Bachelor of Religious Studies (Sharia Studies) and Bachelor of Law from Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He also holds a certificate as a Capital Market Sharia Expert (ASPM) and Sharia Supervisor from LSP MUI.
